This new generation of heavy-duty export box has walls 10–15 mm thick, giving very high compression strength and excellent load-bearing capacity — a 1-tonne load can be stacked on top of an empty box. Stacking height can be increased, the appearance is clean and the box folds flat to save storage space.
Sizes and box structures are produced to order. The common construction is a lid-and-base with a separate sleeve, or box-plus-lid. The box can sit on an existing pallet, or be built with integrated forklift feet to save cost — the first choice when replacing wood with paper. Common sizes include 1200 × 1000 × 1100 mm, 1200 × 800 × 1000 mm and 1100 × 1100 × 700 mm.
